Is Hardwired Ev Charging Mandatory under the New Electrical Code?

Under the NEC 2026 EV charger requirements, hardwiring is now mandatory for certain Level 2 installations. Specifically, a hardwired connection is required if the circuit exceeds 60 amps or if the manufacturer’s instructions explicitly specify a hardwired setup.
